  • Aug 29, 2010 · If you have a Mopar electronic conversion with a dual resistor, it works the same except when the key is in "start" the voltage is dropped through one side of the ballast resistor and when the key is in "run" the voltage is dropped farther through the other side of the ballast resistor.
  • Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from each end of this wire and crimp a connector onto each end. Connect the wire to the unused terminal of the ballast resistor and to the previously identified terminal of the coil. https://itstillruns.com/do-wire-ballast-resistor-coil-8021254.html . • Some customers report that bypassing the ballast resistor by disconnecting the ballast feed wire ( from the starter solenoid or built into the loom) and providing a direct 12 volt feed from the starter solenoid/relay or fuse box to the ignition coil has proved to be a success and has given good results.

Jan 31, 2019 · That introdues other complications. HEI and CD ignition systems do not require a ballast resistor. Note that the Mopar electronic ignition conversion comes with a new ballast resistor, which I believe has a lower value than the factory one. That is the one which should be used with the Mopar ECU.
There isn't one. That's a GM and Chrysler thing. Ford used a resistance wire. Easy to spot, it's the one with the rough pink insulation running from the ignition switch to the firewall. Don't cut it, that destroys the underdash wiring harness (cha-ching). Just bypass it. There's a plug near the ignition switch.

Got the Chilton manual. It does not show this ignition setup in the wiring diagram. It has the CSC ignition and a version with the old ballast resistor setup with the full 12v wire coming from start relay to the output side of relay. Manual does not show this set up where there are only two wires at ballast resistor (one in and one out).
