The normal operating temperature of the coolant in an engine is about 210F to 240F degrees. The thermostat OPENS at 195F degrees; but, the temperature continues to rise to the normal operating temperature. The temperature of the coolant can rise above 212F degrees because coolant is pressurized (NOT because the water is mixed with antifreeze).

Dec 24, 2011 · The maximum temperature he said that gauge got to was in the mid 90* C. (94-96 C) But averaged around 90. So the coolant coming out of the engine was no doubt over 100C. Now I got the truck back and took the cardboard out so it will maintain it's temp a little cooler, but wondering what is "safe"?
Dec 18, 2020 · The engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT), is one of the most important engine management sensors in your vehicle. A sensor that is shorted or reading out of range; obviously can’t provide a reliable signal and must be replaced. Consequently, engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) replacement usually happens only after they have failed.

Apr 10, 2007 · The measured coolant temperature remains fixed at 70° C. until time t3 when the actual coolant temperature rises above 70° C., whereafter the measured temperature faithfully tracks the actual coolant temperature. When this sort of temperature sensor malfunction occurs, the engine controller can fail to recognize a cold-start condition of the ...
Until recently, the operating temperatures of a car engine has typically been between 180F and 200F. This is the temperature at which the thermostat opens allowing coolant to travel to the radiator.
