Hi everyone, Im building a new computer and have some problems with the power supply. I get a message that I need another 4-pin ATX power connector, I wonder if I need to buy a new power supply or if it is enough to buy an adapter (4-pin ATX12V to 8-pin EPS12V).
For big projects, with big power needs, an AT or ATX power supply is a handy place to grab 5V or 12VDC. That's where this cable comes in. It has a matching 4-pin molex connector to the hard drive/CD-ROM power cables that come out of a power supply so you can use this to grab 5V or 12V.
So my motherboard has an 8-pin 12v connector + an additional 4 pin atx power connector. My PSU came with 2 detachable 8-pin connector (4+4). Can I use the 2 cables? 8 pin, then detach the second one and connect the 4 pin connector. This is an AMD Ryzen 3800x proccessor.
May 07, 2019 · 4-pin was the old standard, allowed up to 150w per standard. 8-pin (EPS12V) is the new standard, allowing up to 300w. Some motherboards come with both 4 and 8 pin connections. Some motherboard come with two 8-pin connections. Both connectors supply power to the CPU, and as far as I know nothing else.
